"Friday, March 25, 2016" The Pontiac VA Vet Center is hosting a Women's Vet Health Fair from 10AM till 2PM at their office, 44200 Woodward, Ste 108, Pontiac. All women vets & their families are invited to attend. A number of vet orgs will be there to assist with related veteran matters. For more info see flyer.
"Saturday, March 26, 2016" University of Detroit-Mercy Men's Lacrosse team is offering to all current military & veterans to their Veterans Game at Titan Field, 4001 W McNicholds, Detroit, at 1PM as they play the US Air Force Falcons. Parking is also free. The first 1,000 fans will receive free Military Appreciation T-Shirts. Other events include in game military appreciation recognitions, special crowd giveaways, concession stands, and the Titans Gift Shop. For more info call 313-434-5787.
"Saturday, March 26, 2016" DAV Chapter 129, 47326 Dequindre Rd, Shelby Twp, is hosting a Chili Cook-Off from 6:30PM till 9. This year the competition will be between the DAV, VFW, & American Legion. See flyer for more info.
"Monday, March 28, 2016" The American Indian Veterans of Michigan, 26641 Lawrence, Center Line, is hosting their annual Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day, starting at 2PM. Mostaccioli, Salad, & Garlic Bread is free to all vets & their families. For more info call Chris at 248-210-6153 or see flyer.
"Tuesday, March 29, 2016" Patriot Hockey has teamed up with the Detroit Red Wings to offer discount Red Wing tickets (tonight's game is against the Buffalo Sabres) with $10 of every ticket sold helping out the Fallen & Wounded Solider Fund, a local group in the Detroit area. There are 7 different games thru April that you can get this discount. All games at the Joe starting at 7:30. "Sunday, April 3, 2016" The Michigan Military Technical & Historical Society is offering another in their lecture series about WWII, this time on "Japanese Balloon Bombs Over Michigan." with a 2PM starting time. Admission by donation. The Society is located at 16600 Stephens, Eastpointe. For more info see flyer.
"Monday, April 4, 2016" The Southfield Public Library, in an effort to assist The Southfield Veterans Commission in raising funds to assist local vets, will host its 9th annual Spell Bowl. This is not a spelling bee but a team effort to see which team will get the most points. Each team is given a complete list of the words that will be used in advance. Cost is $40 per team of 5/7 members. Will be held at the library, 26300 Evergreen, Southfield, starting at 7PM. For complete info and forms see flyer.
"Wednesday, April 6, 2016 (NEW)" The Yankee Air Museum, Willow Run Airport, presents another in their free lecture series on WWII and the Willow Run Bomber plant. Today the speaker will be Dennis Norton will talk about the building of the plant at 7PM in the General Purpose Room. See flyer for more info.

"Free Legal Services" The Legal Aid & Defender Association, Inc., is hosting numerous (17 to be exact) free legal clinics (priority for vets) in both Oakland & Macomb counties for the next 6 months, all starting at 10AM. "VA Golden Age Games coming to Detroit (Updated website)" The VA Golden Age Games are coming to Detroit in July 2016. This will be open to all veterans that are enrolled in the VA Health System. To get a sneak peek see early flyer or visit their new website to volunteer or participate!
