Hire Our Heroes Event in Grand Rapids, Michigan Jan 24th, 2013

Grand Rapids, MI Date Event:  January 24, 2013 Join us January 24, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for a job fair for veteran job seekers, active duty military members, guard and reserve members, and military spouses at the Grand Valley National Guard Armory, 1200 44th St., Southwest, in Wyoming, MI.  This event will be a one-of-a-kind FREE hiring fair for both employers and job seekers. This hiring event is being conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), the Michigan Veterans’ Services Division, Pure Michigan Workforce Development Agency, the Michigan Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the U.S. Army Reserve, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, The American Legion, NBC News, and other local partners. Thank you ALL Veterans on this day ..... As we wake up this morning let us remember all veterans who have served and continue to serve this great country.  This day November 11th, 1918 World War One, the war to end all wars came to a close. The American Legion Department of Michigan represents over 70,000 members in the State of Michigan. The American Legion was founded in 1919, based on “The Four Pillars”; veteran rehabilitation, Americanism, child welfare, and national security and continued above all its mission as a consumers’ advocate for veterans. Presidential Proclamation -- Veterans Day, 2012 VETERANS DAY, 2012 - - - - - - - BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA A PROCLAMATION Whether they fought in Salerno or Samarra, Heartbreak Ridge or Helmand, Khe Sanh or the Korengal, our veterans are part of an unbroken chain of men and women who have served our country with honor and distinction. On Veterans Day, we show them our deepest thanks. Their sacrifices have helped secure more than two centuries of American progress, and their legacy affirms that no matter what confronts us or what trials we face, there is no challenge we cannot overcome, and our best days are still ahead. This year, we marked the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. We began to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. We welcomed our veterans back home from Iraq, and we continued to wind down operations in Afghanistan.
