Listed below are only the events I have for the next 14+ days here in the Metro Detroit area, of which there are 3 new items. You can also go to the Legion 328 website to download any flyer for these and future events (thru August) at  http://www.legionpost328.org/events.html 
If your group has an event benefiting veterans, or you hear of an event, please share with me so I can share with the veteran community.  I would rather get an event 3 times than not at all!  Please make sure any flyer lists address of event and a contact person!

"Weekly Detroit RUCK" Every Sunday Team Red/White/Blue, and 22 Until None, are hosting a RUCK starting at 10AM at Bobcat Bonnie's, 1800 Michigan, Detroit. Ends back at Bobcat Bonnie's around noon, about 4 to 6 mile RUCK. Bring any weight or none! For more info email Mike at Team RWB.
"The Wall That Heals" The Wall that Heals, an exact replica of the Wall in Washington, DC, from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is coming to Howell at the Livingston County Spencer Hardy Airport August 23rd thru 26th. This event is hosted by DAV chapter 125. Help is needed with set-up, Honor Guard, teardown. If you can be of help call Anne Marie at 313-898-1086 or goto their website. "Get Your VA ID Card" For those vets not receiving medical benefits from the VA but would like the new ID Card for discounts at stores & shops, etc., visit the official source here.
"Pre-Approval Form for Burial at a National Cemetery" You can submit a form to the VA for pre-approval to be burial at a National Cemetery. Note: Understand they are 11 months behind in processing. The Form 40-1007 is here.

"Every Wednesday" Weekly classic car "Cruz'n VVA 528" every Wednesday from 5 PM to 8 PM. Burgers, hotdogs, beer, raffles at the VFW Post 6695, 1426 S Mill St, Plymouth, MI 48170.

"Monday July 2, 2018 " The Polish League of American Veterans, Post 16, is hosting a Classic Car Show from 5 till 8PM at their post, 25222 Warren, Dearborn Hgts. Food tent, cash bar, basket of cheer. For info call John at 313-205-4066, or see flyer.
"Wednesday July 4, 2018 (NEW)" Disabled American Veterans Chapter 129 is hosting a Picnic/BBQ and all veterans are invited to this free event, 11AM till 4PM at their chapter, 47326 Dequindre, Shelby Twp. Games for all, etc. For more info see flyer.
"Saturday, July 7, 2018 (Canceled) " Michigan Women Veterans is hosting a Yard Sale & Dirt Therapy fun program. Will run from Noon till 4PM at 19935 Orleans, Detroit. For more info call 810-373-5744 and seeflyer.
"Saturday, July 7, 2018" Lake Point Community Church is hosting its annual free Veterans BBQ/Picnic from 11am till 3PM, 1550 W Drahner Rd, Oxford. Will be dancing, free food, fun for the family. For more info call Bob at 248-417-2451.
"Saturday, July 14, 2018" The Knights of Columbus is hosting its 23rd annual Golf Outing to support the Veterans Support Center, at Cracklewood Golf Club, 18215 24 Mile, Macomb. Will start with a shotgun at 1:30PM. Cost is $100 per golfer. For complete details and registration form, see flyer.
"Saturday, July 14, 2018" Once again this year Boats4vets will be hosting its annual outing on Lake St Clair, launching from the Idle Hour Yacht Club on Harsens Island at 10AM. This is a free event for all vets, but you must RSVP by the 9th at 810-512-4660. For more info see flyer.
"Sunday, July 15, 2018" Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 154, is hosting a Car Show from 8AM till 10:30AM at St Clair Shores VFW, 28404 Jefferson. Funds raised will assist the VVA food Pantry. Complete details and registration Form on flyer.
"Friday, July 20, 2018 " The metro airport Freedom Center is hosting its' 2nd annual golf fundraiser at Whispering Willows Golf Course, 20500 Newburgh Rd, Livonia, with a 10:30 registration/lunch/warm-up, and a Noon shotgun start. Affidavit Required in December I n late 2013 the state legislature and the governor enacted Public Act 161 of 2013, the Disabled Veterans Exemption.  This act gives qualifying disabled veterans or their unremarried surviving spouses a property tax exemption for their primary residence in Michigan.  For some qualifying veterans, not having to pay their property taxes could mean the difference of staying in their current home or having to move. Summary of Benefits The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will be mailing out to all veterans who receive benefits their ‘summary of benefits’ letter in the month of November and December.  The veteran will need that summary along with Michigan Treasury Form 5107.   The surviving unremarried spouse will need to provide the last summary of benefits letter or other documentation showing the qualifying veterans status at time of death and Form 5107. War, Sacrifice and America's Veterans By Dale  Barnett While we can all rejoice this Veterans Day that the steady flow of U.S. casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan has slowed to a trickle, we must never forget the incredible sacrifice that America's defenders continue to make on our behalf. Such is the case of Master Sergeant Joshua Wheeler, who died leading a Delta Force rescue mission of ISIS hostages held in Iraq on Oct. 22.  A veteran of 14 combat deployments, his sacrifice is shared by four boys who are now fatherless and his wife, who became a widow far too early. Legion opposes permanent extension of Choice program   WASHINGTON, May 27, 2016 — During a congressional hearing May 24, The American Legion delivered written and oral testimony regarding access to healthcare through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).   Director of Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Lou Celli addressed members of the Senate's Committee on Veterans' Affairs, highlighting the Legion's views on the Care Veterans Deserve Act of 2016.   If enacted, this Act would eliminate the VA's Veterans Choice Program (VCP) termination date, expand program eligibility, and extend certain operating hours of VA pharmacies and medical facilities.   "We stated at the time, and state here again today, that we never supported Choice becoming a permanent program," Celli said.
