ANNOUNCEMENTS!
"Freedom Center @ North Terminal Now Open!" The Metro Airport North Freedom Center has opened, at gate D-17. The hours of operation, however, are limited due to a lack of volunteers! We need you! You get free parking at the airport (handy when you go on vacation) and a chance to serve the troops as they pass thru. To volunteer visit the Freedom Center website and go to volunteer.
"Free Legal Services" The Legal Aid & Defender Association, Inc., is hosting numerous (17 to be exact) free legal clinics (priority for vets) in both Oakland & Macomb counties for the next 6 months, all starting at 10AM. "VA Golden Age Games coming to Detroit" The VA Golden Age Games are coming to Detroit in July 2016. This will be open to all veterans that are enrolled in the VA Health System. To get a sneak peek see early flyer or visit their new website!
"Home Front Strong" This is a program open to all current military/veterans/partners for 8 weeks to help cope with or rebound from the challenges of deployment & military life. You can receive up to $140 for attending. For more info contact Jodi at 734-998-5849 or see flyer.

"Friday, January 22, 2016" The Macomb County Vet Center is hosting an Open House from Noon till 4PM. The center is located at 42621 Garfield Rd, Suite 105, Clinton Twp. Get your questions answered! For more info call 586-412-0107.
"Saturday, January 23, 2016" American Legion Riders is hosting their 10th annual Polar Bear Steak Dinner from 5 till 8PM at Livonia Post 32, 9318 Newburgh Rd, Livonia. Dinner is $18 per person and includes many items. For more info call 313-949-8188 or see flyer.
"Sunday, January 24, 2016" Auburn Hills Legion Post 143 id hosting a Bowling Fund Raiser at Classic Lanes, 2145 Avon Industrial Dr, Rochester Hill, from 5 till 8PM. Cost is $20 and includes 3 games, shoes, etc. For more info call 248-852-4800 or see flyer.
"Friday, January 29, 2016" The Student Veterans of America (SVA) at U of M Ann Arbor are hosting their 7th annual Benefit Dinner with the proceeds helping the Washtenaw County Vet Treatment Court. The event starts at 6PM in the Rogel Ballroom at the Michigan Union, Ann Arbor. Tickets range from $35 to $135. For more info see flyer. For tickets visit the official ticket website.
"Saturday, January 30, 2016" Unity of Royal Oak, sponsored by Vaughn Respite, is hosting an event to assist veterans in finding housing, plus vet services, free hair cuts, $3000 worth of give-a-ways, along with breakfast, lunch, & dinner. Event starts at 9AM and runs till 4PM at Unity, 2500 Crooks Rd, Royal Oak. For more info call 313-246-2886.
"Saturday, January 30, 2016" An Expungement Fair will be held for veterans with past felony or non-violent misdemeanors from 9AM till 1PM. For location & appointment call Karen at 313-377-0673.
"Thursday, February 4, 2016" Oakland County Veterans Community Action Team (VCAT) will be hosting a resource info seminar for organizations that provide services for veterans, from 10AM till 1PM at JVS, 29699 Southfield Rd, Southfield. This event is not for veterans, but for the groups that help veterans. To attendclick this link.

(LANSING) - The Michigan American Legion now has an accredited Veteran service officer available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. The American Legion Veteran service officer services all veterans and their families with filing claims to the Veterans Administration on the veteran's behalf or to check the status of a claim already filed. Veterans and current service members in the Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties now have more opportunities to file their claim or ask questions. Centrally located in the tri-county area at 212 N.
