"Freedom Center @ North Terminal Now Open!" The Metro Airport North Freedom Center has opened, at gate D-17. The hours of operation, however, are limited due to a lack of volunteers! We need you! You get free parking at the airport (handy when you go on vacation) and a chance to serve the troops as they pass thru. To volunteer visit the Freedom Center website and go to volunteer.
"Free Legal Services" The Legal Aid & Defender Association, Inc., is hosting numerous (17 to be exact) free legal clinics (priority for vets) in both Oakland & Macomb counties for the next 6 months, all starting at 10AM. "VA Golden Age Games coming to Detroit" The VA Golden Age Games are coming to Detroit in July 2016. This will be open to all veterans that are enrolled in the VA Health System. To get a sneak peek see early flyer or visit their new website!
"Buddy-2-Buddy MI Job Fairs" See attachment for the job fairs in MI for January. Again, B2B does not host these events, they simply compile the data.

"Friday, January 15, 2016" Autumn Woods Health Care is hosting a Bowling Fund Raiser for Vets Returning Home at Bonanza Bowling Alley, 24600 Hoover, Warren, starting at 6:15PM. Cost is $15 at the door and includes bowling, shoes, pop, & pizza. For more info call Kim at 586-996-0445 or see flyer.
"Friday, January 15, 2016 (NEW)" U of M Dearborn Hockey is inviting all veterans to their 2nd annual Veteran Appreciation Game, 7:30PM, at the U of M Dearborn Field House against Adrian College. For more info call 313-436-9196 or see flyer.
"Sunday, January 17, 2016 " The Michigan Military Technical & Historical Society is presenting another in their series of lectures on WWII, this time on Amphibious Warfare in the Pacific. Guest speaker is Professor Bruce Zellers from Oakland University. The museum is located at 166600 Stephens, Eastpointe, with the event starting at 2PM, admission by donation. For more info see flyer.
"Tuesday, January 19, 2016" The MI Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, along with MSU Institute of Agriculture Technology, is starting a program for vets wanting to learn food production, processing, etc. This is an 8 week program and VA approved training. "Friday, January 22, 2016" The Macomb County Vet Center is hosting an Open House from Noon till 4PM. The center is located at 42621 Garfield Rd, Suite 105, Clinton Twp. Get your questions answered! For more info call 586-412-0107.
"Saturday, January 23, 2016 (NEW)" American Legion Riders is hosting their 10th annual Polar Bear Steak Dinner from 5 till 8PM at Livonia Post 32, 9318 Newburgh Rd, Livonia. Dinner is $18 per person and includes many items. For more info call 313-949-8188 or see flyer.
"Sunday, January 24, 2016 (NEW)" Auburn Hills Legion Post 143 is hosting a Bowling Fund Raiser at Classic Lanes, 2145 Avon Industrial Dr, Rochester Hill, from 5 till 8PM. Cost is $20 and includes 3 games, shoes, etc. For more info call 248-852-4800 or see flyer.
"Friday, January 29, 2016" The Student Veterans of America (SVA) at U of M Ann Arbor are hosting their 7th annual Benefit Dinner with the proceeds helping the Washtenaw County Vet Treatment Court. The event starts at 6PM in the Rogel Ballroom at the Michigan Union, Ann Arbor. Tickets range from $35 to $135. For more info see flyer. For tickets visit the official ticket website.

(LANSING) - The Michigan American Legion now has an accredited Veteran service officer available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. The American Legion Veteran service officer services all veterans and their families with filing claims to the Veterans Administration on the veteran's behalf or to check the status of a claim already filed. Veterans and current service members in the Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties now have more opportunities to file their claim or ask questions. Centrally located in the tri-county area at 212 N.
