"Veterans Federal Benefits App for Smart Phones" Defense Mobile has just released apps for smart phones where you can see what is the latest news from the VA, what your benefits are, where to apply, and even many of the forms! A bit lacking on state benefits, but they tell me they are working on including those in the near future, but it does have several handy phone numbers for MI Vets. For iPhones use this link. For Android phones use this link. Get the app and see if you are missing anything!
"Veterans Day Free Meals!" A wide variety of places are offering either free, or large discounts, on meals for veterans this Veterans Day. Sometimes it includes a discount for the whole family. See attached for a listing of such places.
"Buddy-2-Buddy November Job Fair Listing" This list, compiled by the Buddy-2-Buddy Network, shows all the fairs that they know of in Michigan for November.
"U of M - Ann Arbor Student Veterans (SVA) Events" The SVA Chapter at the U of M in Ann Arbor has a wide variety of events taking place in November. To check out their listing click here! They are a busy group of young vets!

"Friday, November 6, 2015" The Oakland Community College Students Veterans (SVA) are hosting a Stuff the Truck event at the Walmart, 4555 Michigan Ave, Canton, from 10AM till 4PM. They are collecting donations of items to ship to soldiers on deployments, plus for veterans in school, etc. For more info call Mya at 248-232-4356 or see flyer.
"Friday, November 6, 2015" A 100 mile run will take place for 3 days in the Great Smoky Mountains to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Fund on Veterans Day. There is much information regarding this event so for more information contact Kerry at 810-516-7774 or see attached flyer.
"Friday, November 6, 2015 (NEW)" The Bob Brinker Memorial Veterans Foundation is hosting a Veterans Day Bowling Fundraiser Bowl One Lanes, 1639 E 14Mile, Troy, starting at 9:30PM. Price is $20 per person and includes 3 games, shoes, pizza & pop. All proceeds to help local veterans in need. For complete info see flyer.
"Friday & Saturday, November 6 & 7, 2015" The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency is hosting a Veteran Expo at the Dort Federal Credit Union, 3501 Lapeer Rd, Flint, on Friday from 10AM till 4PM, & Saturday from 9AM till Noon. Learn about benefits, services, meet employers, education specialists, etc. Learn more and pre-register at their official website.
"Saturday, November 7, 2015 (UPDATE)" The Detroit Annual Veterans Day Parade will kick off for the 10th time in downtown Detroit at 10AM. After the parade 5th 3rd Bank is hosting the 1st annual Downtown Festival Celebrating Veterans at Hart Plaza, starting at 11AM, and free for all vets. "Saturday, November 7, 2015" The Highland VFW Post 9914 is hosting their annual fund raising dinner to support the Michigan War Dog Cemetery in South Lyon. The guest speaker will be Tracy Spader, founder of the K-9 Defenders Fund. For more info contact Phil at 248-685-8307 or see flyer.

"Wednesday, November 11, 2015" The City of West Bloomfield and the Tuskegee Airmen-West Bloomfield Chapter cordially invite all veterans to attend a memorial honoring all our heroes, especially those whose lives were taken while serving their country. The Township Supervisor/Mayor will place a wreath at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 9:00 am at City Hall located at 4550 Walnut Lake Road west of Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield, MI. "Wednesday, November 11, 2015 " Lawrence Technological University is hosting a Veterans Day Ceremony in the college of management in the atrium, 21000 W 10 Mile, Southfield, starting at 12:30PM. Come and have lunch with the student vets, which is free.
"Wednesday, November 11, 2015" Active Heroes is an all day telethon WAVE3 to lift 22 million pounds to raise money and awareness to help end veteran suicide. To sign up to be part of the lifting visit their website. For more information see flyer.
"Wednesday, November 11, 2015 (NEW)" The Piety Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring a Veterans Day Wreath Laying ceremony at 11am in Shain Park in downtown Birmingham. Vietnam Veteran Randy Wright of VVA Chapter #9 will be the main speaker. It will include a bugler, bagpiper, and singer. Refreshments after the ceremony at the lower level Baldwin Public Library.
"Thursday, November 12, 2015 " Women Supporting Women in the Military and our Veterans is hosting a Hat & Scarf Suction at the Howell Elks Club, 2830 E Grand River, Howell, from 5:30 till 9PM. Donation of $20 ($210 for military/veterans) is requested and includes dinner at 6PM. For complete info see flyer.
"Thursday, November 12, 2015" Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 267 is hosting an Hepatitis C Awareness & Education Initiative at the Dearborn Hgts VFW Post 6576, located at 6828 Waverly, Dearborn Hgts, from 10AM till Noon, including lunch. "Friday, November 13, 2015" The Michigan Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America is hosting its annual gala at the Suburban Collection Showcase, 46100 Grand River, Novi, starting at 6PM till 9PM. "Sunday, November 15, 2015" The Michigan Military Technical & Historical Society will present "Forging Thunderbolts" at 2PM at the Museum. "Tuesday, November 17, 2015" The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund is hosting a night with author David Nelson of "The Blaine Family Chronicles. You will have the opportunity to bid on helping to name characters in an upcoming new book. For complete information on this event see the attached flyer.
"Wednesday, November 18, 2015 (NEW)" Army One Source is hosting a Combat to Communities Web Event to promote free legal services for current military and veterans from 2 till 3:30PM. "Thursday, November 19, 2015" University of Detroit - Mercy Law School is hosting a Criminal Expungement Law Clinic from 9AM till 11AM at SS Peter & Paul Church Sanctuary, 438 St Antoine, Detroit.
