"Shrine Circus" An invitation has been extended to veterans and their family members to attend the Fifth Third Bank Michigan State Fair Charity Preview, which will take place at the Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Avenue, Novi, MI 48374 on: Thursday, August 28, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (http://michiganstatefairllc.com/about-us/vip-reception-charity-preview-night/) IMPORTANT To attend this exclusive event, please send the names of the veteran(s), along with the names of their immediate family members by August 18, 2014 to Shelby Collins, scollins@SuburbanShowplace.com. "Royal Oak Arts, Beats, & Eats" The Arts, Beats, & Eats event takes place over the Labor Day weekend in Royal Oak. Oakland County Parks is offering 4 free tickets to veterans for any day of the event. You must register to get your tickets & they only have 1400 free, so hurry. Go online or call 248-541-7550.

EVENTS

"Saturday, August 16, 2014" Garden City American Legion Post 396 is hosting their 2nd annual golf outing at the Warren Valley Golf Course, Dearborn Hgts, with a 8AM shotgun start. Some proceeds to support Stiggy's Dogs for veterans. Cost is $95 per person which includes breakfast, lunch, & dinner. For more info call Brian at 7347-673-6601 or see attached flyer.

"Sunday, August 17, 2014" The Women Marines Association, Motor City Chapter MI-2, is holding their 7th annual Fallen Warrior Women Marine Scholarship Golf Outing at Selfridge ANGB, with a Noon registration and a 1PM shotgun start. A buffet dinner will start at 5PM. There are strict rules to enter the base, so all rules and to register to golf see attached information.

"Monday, August 18, 2014" The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund is holding the 20th annual golf outing at Walnut Creek Country Club, 25501 Johns Rd, S Lyon. For more information call Lynn at 734-929-4765 or see attached flyer.

"Monday, August 18, 2014" The Pontiac Vet Center is hosting its 1st Annual Golf Outing at the White Lakes Oaks Golf Course, White Lake, 991 N. Williams Lake Rd, White Lake, with a 10 AM registration, 11:30 AM start. This event is the 1st veteran Appreciation event sponsored by the Pontiac Vet Center. Cost is $15 for 9 holes and $25 for 18 holes per person and includes golf cart. See attached for more details and to register. See flyer for more information..

"Wednesday, August 20, 2014 (NEW)" The Detroit VA Benefits Admisistration Regional Office is hosting a Veteran Benefit seminar in the basement of the Detroit Federal Bldg, 477 Michigan, Detroit, from 10AM to 2PM. Allow yourself time to get thru security. For more info see flyer.

"Thursday, August 21, 2014 (NEW)" Legal Aid & Defender Association of Detroit is hosting a free expungement seminar from 11AM till 1PM at the Walter White Community Resource Center, 550 Eaton, River Rouge. "Thursday, August 21, 2014" Team River Runner is hosting a wounded veteran fishing event at Tourist Park in Marquette, from 6 to 8PM. Learn how to fish with free instructions & equipment. Contact Sarah at 906-228-5744 for more information or see flyer.

(LANSING) - The Michigan American Legion now has an accredited Veteran service officer available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. The American Legion Veteran service officer services all veterans and their families with filing claims to the Veterans Administration on the veteran's behalf or to check the status of a claim already filed.
