ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN -I

Starting Salary: $16.98/hour

Responsible for performing the maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of 

electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical systems on light rail transit vehicles; as 

required to maintain the safety, reliability and efficiency of the Detroit People 

Mover System. 

Minimum Qualifications: Requires advanced vocational/technical training 

(minimum two year Technical school diploma) in electronic theory and principles 

(preferably in Power electronics, propulsion & controls, SCADA, signaling and 

communication). Minimum of two years experience troubleshooting and 

maintaining electronic equipment and components. This person should be a self-
starter and be able to work with the system maintenance manuals to isolate and 

diagnose equipment failures under tight time constraints. 

This person will also be required to qualify and occasionally drive the trains in 

manual mode. Additionally this person may be called upon and be able to walk the 

guideway to retrieve crippled trains and assist passengers. Military electronic 

technician or veterans are encouraged to apply.
