"VA Hospital National Salute Week" The week of February 14 each year is your opportunity to say thank you to a special group of men and women, more than 98,000 Veterans of the U.S. armed services who are cared for every day in Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers, outpatient clinics, domiciliaries, and nursing homes. During the National Salute, VA invites individuals, Veterans groups, military personnel, civic organizations, businesses, schools, local media, celebrities and sports stars to participate in a variety of activities at the VA medical centers. The activities and events include special ward visits and Valentine distributions; photo opportunities; school essay contests; special recreation activities and Veteran recognition programs. "Saturday, February 8, 2014" Camp Liberty, which works with our younger vets suffering from TBI & PTSD, is holding its 1st Annual Fund Raiser at Schoolcraft College, 18600 Haggerty Rd, Livonia, from 6 to 10PM. Tickets are $75, $70 for vets. For more information see their website or attached flyer.

"Friday thry Sunday, February 14, 15 & 16, 2014 (NEW)" Operation Troop Aid is hosting a care package event for the troops at Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace at two locations, 17496 Hall Rd, Clinton Twp, and 6835 Rochester Rd, Troy. They will be sending packages to the troops containing Girl Scout cookies, and other items. Children of all ages can send letters to the troops. Friday 4 to 8PM, Saturday 10AM to 8PM, Sunday 10AM to 7PM. See flyer for complete details.
