Tippin boasts five certified gold albums, one platinum, and three number-one hits. Many in the music industry have dubbed the tireless South Carolinian as the “Hillbilly Hercules.” Tippin’s hits include “You’ve Got to Stand For Something,” ''My Blue Angel,'' ''That's As Close As I'll Get to Loving You,'' and ''I Wouldn't Have It Any Other Way.'' Between 1990 and 1997, he scored six top-10 hits, two number one songs, and created such memorable moments as ''The Call of the Wild,'' ''I Got It Honest'' and ''Whole Lotta Love on the Line.'' He also appeared on the soundtracks of such films as 'The Beverly Hillbillies' (1993) and 'Fire Down Below' (1997). In addition, he is a successful songwriter, with artists such as Garth Brooks, Charley Pride, Kenny Chesney and others having recorded his tunes.
The popular national concert series is made possible through the generosity of nonprofit organizations and through donations of funds, time and materials from local communities. No admission will be charged to attend this concert “because the price has already been paid” by the sacrifices of America’s Veterans.
Volunteers, businesses and Veterans Service Organizations who want to assist with time and/or donations to bring the no-cost event to Veterans and the community may contact concert coordinator, Beverly Leneski at (734) 845-3467. Donations will be used for lighting, sound, concert promotion and security.
