#Veteran Events & Announcements 4/26 to 5/14

Listed below are only the events I have for the next 14+ days here in the Metro Detroit area, of which there are 6 new items. You can also go to the Legion 328 website to download any flyer for these and future events (thru May) at  http://www.legionpost328.org/events.html
If your group has an event benefiting veterans, or you hear of an event, please share with me so I can share with the veteran community.  I would rather get an event 3 times than not at all!  Please make sure any flyer lists address of event and a contact person!

"Weekly Detroit RUCK" Every Sunday Team Red/White/Blue, and 22 Until None, are hosting a RUCK starting at 10AM at Bobcat Bonnie's, 1800 Michigan, Detroit. Ends back at Bobcat Bonnie's around noon, about 4 to 6 mile RUCK. Bring any weight or none! For more info email Mike at Team RWB.
"The Wall That Heals" The Wall that Heals, an exact replica of the Wall in Washington, DC, from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is coming to Howell at the Livingston County Spencer Hardy Airport August 23rd thru 26th. This event is hosted by DAV chapter 125. Help is needed with set-up, Honor Guard, teardown. If you can be of help call Anne Marie at 313-898-1086 or goto their website. "Friday, April 27, 2018 " The Desert Angel's are hosting another in their ongoing Packing Parties for the troops serving overseas, today at the Detroit Country Day Middle School, 22400 Hillview Lane, Beverly Hills, from 4 till 6PM. Our TROOPS are in need of the following items: VALENTINE COOKIES, COFFEE, HOT CHOCOLATE, GIRL SCOUT COOKIES, letters of encouragement. EVERYTHING from wipes, to food products, to snacks like dried fruits, nuts, meats, tuna etc. gum, candy.. even chocolate!! New socks and more socks, toiletries, so many items they do NOT have excess to. This is an opportunity to serve our TROOPS as they serve our country. YOU can make a difference!
"Friday, April 27, 2018 " The University of Michigan, Dearborn will be celebrating the graduation of veteran and military-affiliated students by holding a Veterans Commencement Social on Friday, April 27th from 2:00--4:00 PM. The event will take place at the UM-Dearborn Fairlane Center North, Quad-E (19000 Hubbard Drive, Dearborn MI 48126). "Saturday, April 28, 2018" The War Dog Cemetery is honoring all K9 vets on the K9 Veterans Day event, 25805 Milford Rd, South Lyon, starting at Noon. Featured speaker is John Burnam, Vietnam dog handler, and President of the National War Dog Monument. This is a free event. See flyer for more info.
"Saturday, April 28, 2018 " The Detroit VA Hospital, 4646 John R, 1st floor, Yellow Section, Detroit, is hosting a Red Carpet Registration Day, from 9 till 1PM. They want any veteran requiring medical care to come and see them. See flyer for more info.
"Saturday, April 28, 2018 " The Wayne County Friend of the Court, along with the William Booth Legal Aid Clinic, an event to give parents the legal assistance and resources they need to foster financially sound and emotionally happy children. At the Detroit Public Library. Call for time and location inside library.
"Saturday, April 28, 2018" The Yankee Air Museum, Willow Run Airport, is holding a 1940's style USO Dinner & Dance in Hangar 1, Bay 7. Music by the Couriers Swing Band. Doors open at 5:30, Dinner at 6:30. Tickets are $45 in advance, $50 at the door. For more info call 734-483-4030 or see flyer.
"Monday, April 30, 2018 " The Oakland University Student Veterans (SVA) chapter is hosting their first Golf Outing at Pine Trace Golf Club, 3600 Pine Trace Blvd, Rochester Hills, with a 9AM registration and 10AM shotgun start. Dinner after around 4PM. Cost is $90 for 18 holes, lunch, & dinner. For more info see flyer or call 248-370-2010. To register goto their website.
"Wednesday, May 2, 2018 " Southfield VFW Post 2645 will be holding its' monthly Spaghetti Dinner, and social, at 24222 W Nine Mile, Southfield from 5 till 7PM. Cost is $7 and includes a single meal, salad, & desert. A second helping of spaghetti is included. For more info see flyer.
"Wednesday, May 2, 2018 (NEW)" The Yankee Air Museum, Willow Run Airport, is hosting another in their lecture series, this time a progress update on the Willow Run Bomber Plant, the future home of the museum. Guest speaker is Dennis Norton. Starts at 7:30PM in the General Purpose room. Admission is free. See flyer for more info.
"Friday, May 11, 2018" The International Council is hosting the 59th annual International Armed Forces Night Out at the Fogolar Furlan Club, 1800 N Service Road, Windsor. Guess speaker is Dr. Rob Nelson, University of Windsor, on the topic the Treaty of Versailles. Tickets are $70. Doors open at 6:30PM, Dinner at 7:30. For more info see flyer.
"Saturday, May 12, 2018 " The Southfield VFW Post 2465 Auxiliary is hosting a Bowling with Veterans at Plum Hollow Lanes, 21900 W Nine Mile, Southfield, from 2PM on. $20 per person includes 2 hours of bowling, pizza, and pop, and shoes. For more info call Clara at 248-569-8533 or see flyer.
"Monday, May 14, 2018 " The 3rd annual Seniors & Veterans Benefit Expo will take place at the Palazzo Grande, Shelby Twp. Tables for groups are available. For more info call 586-703-3545 or see flyer.
