"Veterans Education & Transition Services" Part of the MVAA in Lansing, and working with the Wayne County Community College, a large number of seminars & classes are available for vets & their famlies. For a complete listing of what they have to offer see flyer.
"Detroit VA Needs Drivers" The Detroit VA Hospital is always in need of volunteer drivers. They have started a new service between downtown and the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor. If interested see flyer.

"Saturday, September 9, 2017 " American Legion Fort Dearborn Post 364 will be hosting their 16th Annual Hog Heaven Event, "Veterans Helping Veterans". There will be a Poker Run, food $12.00, DJ during the day from noon to 9:00 p.m., then a Band in the evening. $5.00 entrance fee, 2017 Harley Softtail, Motorcycle Tickets and second and third price of $500.00. Tickets on sale for Motorcyle $10.00 each or 6 for $50.00.
- "Patriot Week Events" The following is a listing of events put on by Patriot Week. Patriot Week renews America's spirit by celebrating the First Principles, Founding Fathers and other Patriots, vital documents and speeches, and flags that make America the greatest nation in world history. Many of current holidays have become overly commercialized or have lost their deeper meaning. We need to invigorate our appreciation and understanding of America's spirit. Anchored by the key dates of September 11 (the anniversary of the terrorists attacks) and September 17 (Constitution Day, the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution by our Founding Fathers), the Schedule for each day has a separate focus. Celebrate Patriot week with a special screening of "The Patriot" at the Redford Theatre. In addition to the movie, Patriot Week Co-Founder Leah Warren will be a guest speaker and the Oakland County Civil Air Patrol will present the colors and flags of Patriot Week.

"Sunday, September 10, 2017 (NEW) " The White Chapel Patriots Race, WHITE CHAPEL MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY 621 W. Long Lake Road Troy, MI Proceeds to benefit the Michigan Wounded and Returning Warriors Project. 5K Run/Walk: 9:04 am – sharp! There will be a moment of silence at 9:03 am in memory of the 9/11 Tower 2 attack. There's a time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes to finish this event. 1M Run/Walk: 9:50 am – sharp! "Monday, September 11, 2017 " Groves-Walker American Legion Post 346, along with the cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills, present our 16th Annual Patriot Day Ceremony to honor the memory of the nearly three thousand citizens and first responders who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. We are also honored to recognize our own local heroes who serve our community every day. We encourage the community to attend and show their support. During the ceremony Officer of the Year honors will be presented to Police Officers, Public Safety Officers and Fire Fighters from Farmington and Farmington Hills. "Friday, September 15, 2017 (UPDATE)" National POW/MIA day. For poster click here. (1) A ceremony will take place at the Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, 12 Mile & Novi Roads, Novi, starting at 6:30PM. Light refreshments will be served. For more info see flyer. (2) Another ceremony will take place starting at 2PM at Resurrection Cemetery on Clinton River Rd. VVA 154 will be providing the Honor Guard with a vigil lasting until 2PM Saturday.
"Saturday, September 16, 2017" Mission 22 is holding a Veterans Suicide Prevention walk to raise awareness on this important issue. Will be held at the Shelby Twp River Bends Park, 5700 22 Mile Road, from 9 till 11:30AM. For complete details and to register see flyer.

"Saturday, September 16, 2017 (NEW)" Great Lakes National Cemetery will host a POW/MIA service starting at 11AM. The cemetery is located at 4200 E Belford Rd, Holly. This event is sponsored by the Holly Area Vet Resource Center & VVA Chapter 175.
