A veteran of the Global War on Terrorism said, "We were at war while America was at Walmart." As our Armed Forces are always asked to do more with less, it is easy to forget the daily sacrifices these men and women and their families make on our behalf.  At Fisher House Michigan (FHM), we not only honor this sacrifice of Iraq & Afghanistan vets, but that of nearly 650,000 veterans living in Michigan who served since WWII.
Our Mission:
Build a 16-suite home on the grounds of the Ann Arbor VA Healthcare System in order to provide free, temporary accommodations for veterans & their families while the veteran is receiving medical attention at the Ann Arbor VA.
Your Mission:
Serve those who served. Honor the service of Michigan veterans by helping us raise awareness and raise funds in order to break ground on the first Fisher House in Michigan by 2019. 
There are 71 Fisher Houses around the country and overseas... our veterans deserve one here.

Host a local fundraiser! Contact us if you need ideas. Whatever your event, please consider making FHM a beneficiary.

② Spread the Word
Talk about FHM to your family, church, friends, community group, etc. Honor a vet by telling others how to show their appreciation. Engage potential donors in your network or introduce your contacts to our fundraising team. We LOVE to talk about FHM!

War, Sacrifice and America's Veterans By Dale  Barnett While we can all rejoice this Veterans Day that the steady flow of U.S. casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan has slowed to a trickle, we must never forget the incredible sacrifice that America's defenders continue to make on our behalf. Such is the case of Master Sergeant Joshua Wheeler, who died leading a Delta Force rescue mission of ISIS hostages held in Iraq on Oct. 22.  A veteran of 14 combat deployments, his sacrifice is shared by four boys who are now fatherless and his wife, who became a widow far too early. Legion opposes permanent extension of Choice program   WASHINGTON, May 27, 2016 — During a congressional hearing May 24, The American Legion delivered written and oral testimony regarding access to healthcare through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).   Director of Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Lou Celli addressed members of the Senate's Committee on Veterans' Affairs, highlighting the Legion's views on the Care Veterans Deserve Act of 2016.   If enacted, this Act would eliminate the VA's Veterans Choice Program (VCP) termination date, expand program eligibility, and extend certain operating hours of VA pharmacies and medical facilities.   "We stated at the time, and state here again today, that we never supported Choice becoming a permanent program," Celli said.
