#Veteran Events & Announcements 4/20 to 5/6
Listed below are only the events I have for the next 21 days here in the Metro Detroit area, of which there are 5 new items. You can also go to the Legion 328 website to download any flyer for these and future events (thru August) at http://www.legionpost328.org/
If your group has an event benefiting veterans, or you hear of an event, please share with me so I can share with the veteran community. I would rather get an event 3 times than not at all! Please make sure any flyer lists address of event and a contact person!

"Friday, August 18, 2017" The Metro Airport Freedom Center, which has hosted over 300,000 guests since opening in 2011, is hosting a golf outing at the Selfridge Golf Course, Hall Rd, Harrison Twp, with an 8AM best ball scramble. Cost is $100 per person ($380 foursome), lunch & Deli Sandwich Bar. Watch the Thunderbirds practice while you golf. Sponsors are wanted as well as golfers! Note: See form/flyer for rules regarding entrance to Selfridge and for more information. Help the center continue to help those that serve today.
"Friday, April 21, 2017" Please join the American Indian Veterans or Michigan for their annual Karaoke Night at their center, 26641 Lawrence, Centerline, starting aat 7PM and running till 11. Admission $5. For more info call Chris at 248-210-6153 or see flyer.
"Saturday, April 22, 2017" The Faller Soldier Brian Smith Memorial Fund is working with Dearborn Legion Post 364 to host their annual Live Veteran Auction from 7 till 11PM. Post is located at 3001 S Telegraph, Dearborn. Cost is $15 per person for a fun evening with comedian Ron Sweet. For complete details see flyer.
"Saturday, May 6, 2017" Aviation's International presents Historic Inaugural Speaker Event from 11AM till 6PM at the Windsor Airport, 2600 Airport Rd, Windsor. Visit their museum, see static displays, etc. Cost is $20 per person, free parking. For more information call 226-787-2795 or see flyer.
"Saturday, May 6, 2017 (NEW)" Joe Nichols, with special guest star Ray Scott and Joey Vee performing at the Vet's Returning Home Country Concert Series at the Emerald Theater, 31 N Walnut St, Mt Clemens . Doors Open: 6:30 PM For tickets go here.
"Saturday, May 6, 2017" Madison Hgts VFW Post 1407 Auxiliary is hosting a Mexican Fiesta from 4 till 8PM at the post, 630 E 11 Mile Rd, Madison Hgts. Tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, etc., for $8 per person. See flyer for more info.
"Saturday, May 6, 2017" The VFW & UAW Local 5960 are holding a VSO training seminar and benefits awareness class at the union hall, 180 E Silverbell Rd, Lake Orion, from 9AM till 3:30PM, with the second part held on the following Saturday, May 13th. If just wishing to speak to a VSO there is no charge, but $15 to attend the VSO training. for more info call 248-377-5555 or see flyer.

"Stiggy's Dogs" Stigg's Dogs rescues dogs to train them to help returing soldiers with therpy dogs, based out of White Lake. They are currently in the running for $10,000 to assist them with their work, but need you to vote for them. Vist Thumbs Up for Charity and cast your vote thru April 21st. You can vote each day. "Calling all Marines!" Marine week (Note: The site currently talks about Nashville last year, but gives you an idea of what it will be like here in Detroit) is coming to downtown Detroit the week of September 6th. The Marine Corps is looking for Marines of all generations to help with the event. "Now thru April 30 (NEW)" In observance of the Month of the Military Child, the Detroit Zoo is offering a special BOGO offer to all veterans – active, honorably discharged and retired! Veterans who present either a military ID or Form DD-214 with the purchase of one general admission ticket will be given a second general admission ticket of equal or lesser value at no cost. This promotion is valid April 17-30. "Saturday, April 22, 2017" The Michigan War Dog Cemetery is hosting K-9 Veterans Day at the cemetery, 25805 Milford Rd, S Lyon, from Noon till 3PM. "Thursday, April 27, 2017" The Desert Angels are hosting another in their series of Packing Parties for the troops. Remember, postage alone for a single package overseas can be as high as $18 so even if you can't help pack you can always drop off a few dollars toward the shipping. "Saturday, April 29, 2017" The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund is hosting Cocktails @ Hots d'Oeuvers at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial starting at 6PM. Tickets are $150 each. Guest Speaker is Evan Robinson, Special Forces Operator. For more info see flyer.
