Office Depot Launches New Discount for American Legion Members
American Legion members now receive discounts on more than 93,000 items at Office Depot/OfficeMax
Indianapolis – (August 24, 2016) Members of The American Legion, the nation's largest veterans service organization, can now receive discounts on more than 93,000 items at Office Depot/OfficeMax. The new member discount program between the Legion and Office Depot/OfficeMax will be coordinated through Gallagher Affinity, a brokerage services division of Arthur J. Gallagher.
Founded in 1919, The American Legion has 2.2 million members and more than 13,000 posts.  The Legion's mission is to mentor youth, assist veterans, support the community, promote patriotism and national security, and support service members and veterans.
The Office Depot/OfficeMax program will provide access to cost-effective shopping for the home, office and classroom. It offers more than 93,000 everyday items at member discounted rates up to 80 percent off. Products are suited for care packages, continuing education programs and offices at posts or small businesses, and range from school and office supplies to cleaning supplies and kitchen items. Each purchase supports The American Legion.
This program aligns with The American Legion's search for new and innovative ways to provide benefits for its members, as well as thank those who have served the United States of America. The American Legion member benefits team is excited to launch the program to provide members with additional valuable discount opportunities.
Legion members can visit the members section of under "Member Discounts" to shop online, create a direct billing account or print a free in-store purchase card for discounts at Office Depot/OfficeMax locations.

"Help support Buddy-2-Buddy (IMPORTANT)" The Buddy-to-Buddy Volunteer Veteran Program needs your help to keep this critical program in place in order to continue to support thousands of Michigan veterans and service members. Visit and help support Buddy-to-Buddy in its goal to generate the funding that enables the program and its volunteers to help Michigan's service members and veterans. PLUS here is the lastest B2B Job Fair listing for August. Again, they just compile the list.

"Peace of Mind for us older vets!" As we all get older we need to start thinking about our medical records, a living will, a regular will, funeral expenses, etc. The State Bar of Michigan has put together a terrific booklet covering these topics with forms you can fill out at home to cover a simple will, living will, etc. Take a look to see if you should do any of this!


"Friday, August 5, 2016" Advanced Cable is hosting their 2nd annual Bark-E-Que to raise money to support Stiggy's Dogs (Anew hope for every vet, a second chance for every dog) at Barrister Gardens, 24225 Harper, St Clair Shores, from 5 till 10 PM. "Saturday, August 6, 2016" The Fallen & Wounded Soldier Fund is hosting a Party with a Purpose to help support the troops. "Sunday, August 7, 2016" Everyone is invited to the 69th Annual Victory in Japan Day Service to honor the Gold Star Mothers. This will take place at the White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, 621 W Long Lake Rd, Troy, starting at 11AM. Lunch afterwards at Old Settles Post 4659. For more info see flyer.

"Saturday, August 13, 2016 (NEW)" RUCK for the Fallen, Project Brotherhood resolve is a non profit, non government program to help homeless vets, is hosting a 22 Mile walk starting at am, till 7PM, at the Lapeer VFW Post 4139, 128 Daley Rd, Lapeer. "Sunday, August 14, 2016" On the 71st anniversary of VJ-Day, The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial will host a massive re-enactment of the kiss near the sculpture in Memorial Park, Woodward Avenue, just north of 13 Mile road in Royal Oak, Michigan at 1PM. Kissers and cheering onlookers are welcome. 25' Sailor and Nurse Seen Kissing in Memorial Park: Through December The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial ( is pleased to present "Embracing Peace," a 25' painted bronze sculpture of the famous kiss in Times Square at the end of WWII in Memorial Park, Royal Oak, Woodward Avenue, north of 13 Mile Road.
