If your group has an event benefiting veterans, or you hear of an event, please share with me so I can share with the veteran community. I would rather get an event 3 times than not at all!

"Home Front Strong" Home Front Strong is hosting an 8 week program to help military of veterans and their families prepare for, and cope with, the challenges of deployment & military life. Dinner is provided and you can receive up to $140 for participating. For more info see flyer.
"Peace of Mind for us older vets!" As we all get older we need to start thinking about our medical records, a living will, a regular will, funeral expenses, etc. The State Bar of Michigan has put together a terrific booklet covering these topics with forms you can fill out at home to cover a simple will, living will, etc. Take a look to see if you should do any of this!

"Thursday, September 29, 2016" The VFW is hosting their Fall Conference Golf Outing at Chestnut Valley Golf Course, 1875 Club House Dr, Harbor Springs, with a 9AM signin and a 10AM shotgun start. "Thursday, September 29, 2016" Rochester Mills Beer Company is hosting a a fundraiser for Warriors Hockey, a hockey team consisting of wounded warriors, all day, at 400 Water St, Rochester. 20% of all funds raised go toward supporting the hockey team, but you must have the attached flyer.

"Friday, September 30, 2016 " Berkley Legion Post is hosting a Steak Fry from 5 till 8PM, 2079 W 12 Mile, Berkley, for $12.75. For more info call them at 248-542-7668 or see flyer.
"Friday, September 30, 2016" Soldiers' Angels will be hosting a Mobile Food Pantry to supply vets families with free food from Noon till 2PM at the Knights of Columbus, 4381 Larkins, Detroit. You must register in advance at their link or at 210-629-0020. See flyer for more info.
"Saturday, October 1, 2016" The Friends of the Navy will host the 2016 Navy Birthday celebration !! Important points: - get your special 2016 challenge coin for your collection, - get a personal formal portrait to memorialize your uniform still fits, - hear local and national Navy News from the National President of the US Navy League, - personally socialize with crew members of the soon to be commissioned USS DETROIT... Last year we over 250 fellow Friends of the Navy members share a great evening of "food and frolic" plus a series of events to appeal to all of the age groups including children (supervised movie/pizza night), Sea Cadet and NROTC/MCROTC members, Reservists, Active and Veterans alike Tell them to click on the link below to register or RSVP. "Wednesday, October 5, 2016 (NEW)" The Yankee Air Museum is hosting another in their free lecture series at the museum, general purpose room, 7:30PM, Willow Run Airport. "Wednesday & Thursday, October 5 & 6, 2016" The SE Michigan Veterans Stand Down, Inc along with the Detroit VA Hospital, is hosting their annual veterans stand-down at the Detroit Rescue Mission Banquet Hall, 3606 E Forest, Detroit, room 9AM till 5PM each day. "Sunday, October 9, 2016" The U of M Ann Arbor Student Veteran Association is hosting their annual Army vs Navy Wheelchair Basketball game at the Crisler Center, Ann Arbor, with door opening at 2PM, tip-off at 3PM. This is free for all vets. U of M Cheer Team, Dance Team, 338th Army Band, are just some of the highlights. For more info visit their website for the game or see flyer.
"Thursday, October 13, 2016" The Desert Angles are hosting a Packing Party for the troops at the Oakland County Sportsman Club 4770 Waterford Road Clarkston, Mi., from 4 till 6PM. For the troops they are looking for: wipes - personal care - foot powder - socks - cans of pasta, tuna, chicken, fruit, refried beans, etc. - single serving meals - jerky - nuts - dried fruit - "pocket foods (anything that will fit into a packet to take out on missions) powdered drink mix - coffee - tea - energy bars - protein bars - sunflower seeds - ready to eat meals - Raymon noodles - crackers - granola bars - breakfast bars - Things to make them smile - a letter from YOU - nerf balls. And for K-9's they are looking for: waterless shampoo large Kong's (which are toys) paw & nose salve K-9 ear cleaner K-9 eye drops large rope chews collapsible food and water bowls .
