"Free Legal Services" The Legal Aid & Defender Association, Inc., is hosting numerous (17 to be exact) free legal clinics (priority for vets) in both Oakland & Macomb counties for the next 6 months, all starting at 10AM. "More Free Legal Services!" The Wayne County Friend of the Court is hosting outreach assistance where you can discuss your FOC issues. There are numerous locations for the next couple of months so see flyer for times and places where you can get your issues resolved.
"VA Golden Age Games coming to Detroit (IMPORTANT)" The VA Golden Age Games are coming to Detroit in July 2016 & volunteers are still needed!. This will be open to all veterans that are enrolled in the VA Health System. To get a sneak peek see early flyer or visit their new website to volunteer or participate!
"Peace of Mind for us older vets!" As we all get older we need to start thinking about our medical records, a living will, a regular will, funeral expenses, etc. The State Bar of Michigan has put together a terrific booklet covering these topics with forms you can fill out at home to cover a simple will, living will, etc. Take a look to see if you should do any of this!

"Friday, June 17, 2016 (NEW)" Great ready for the METRO DETROIT HOMETOWN HERO'S & UNITY DINNER that will take place in St. Clair Shores at the palatial Barrister Gardens. Tickets Must be purchased before this event and by contacting Marty Prehn at 1 586 563 0989. Front area tables for this event can be yours by purchasing a table of 10 for $500. The black tie and gowns for the red carpet arrival of our METRO DETROIT HOMETOWN SUPER HERO'S, celebrities, dignitaries, tv and radio personalities, pastors, and local, state and Washington DC politians starts at 5pm. Ticket holders can begin arriving at 6pm or sooner. You may also come in casual dress but shirt and shoes will be required. Dinner will be served from 6:30-7:30pm with a cash bar and the program will begin at 8:pm. Music will be provided by Detroit's own DANNY D and the Vagabonds. Dancing and drinks will also bring UNITY to the METRO DETROIT COMMUNITIES as we create the largest METRO DETROIT TASK FORCE to STOP THE VIOLENCE and Rescue and Restore our friends and neighbors in the METRO DETROIT COMMUNITIES. Your co-hosts for this bling-bling and gala event will be National Elder Advocate Marty Prehn, Pastor Ovella Davis of CODE 22 and the UNITED COMMUNITIES OF AMERICA and my friend and the real spirit of the METRO DETROIT COMMUNITY Jamie Victory. This UNITY event will also serve to wish Detroit Deputy Mayor Ike McKinnon a well deserved retirement and remember those lives lost through senseless violence and also honor of law enforcement, Gold Star families, Purple Heart Recipients, our veterans and several recent passings of our sports and tv legends most notably Muhammad Ali, #9 Detroit Red Wings LEGEND Gordie Howe and my friend tv actor Dan Haggerty aka GRIZZLY ADAMS. This is a CALL TO ALL to help restore the peace and bring UNITY TO OUR METRO DETROIT COMMUNITIES. This event will also have Corey Claggett an Army Veteran who is being Honored and an 94 year Marine Veteran Florence Iverson.
"Saturday, June 18, 2016" The Fallen & Wounded Soldier Fund is hosting Operation: Stop 22, 3D Archery Shoot. This will take place at the Michee Archery Club, Midland, starting at 8AM till 5:30PM. For complete information see flyer.
"Sunday, June 19, 2016" The Great Lakes Stampede, 22nd annual All Ford & Mustang Car Show, will take place at Nexteer Automotive, 3900 E Holland Rd, Saginaw, from 8:30AM till 5PM to benefit the Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund. "Sunday, June 19, 2016" The Montford Point Marines is holding their annual Heritage Banquet at the Shriner's Silver Garden Events Center, 24350 Southfield Rd, Southfield, from 6 till 9PM. "Friday, June 24, 2016" The Disabled American Veterans will have their national VSO's at DAV Chapter 14, 30905 Plymouth Rd, Livonia, from 10AM till 6PM, to assist any veteran in submitting a claim for benefits to the VA.
"Friday , June 24, 2016" The State VFW is hosting their 10th annual Camp Trotter Golf Outing at Village Green Golf Course, 8130 Bingham Ave, Newaygo, with a 8AM registration and a 9AM shotgun start. Cost is $60 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch at the Turn, steak dinner, etc. For more info call 517-490-1221 or see attached flyer.
"Friday , June 24, 2016" Help For Our Disabled Troops is hosting its annual King Richard Spring Golf Outing at Bruce Hills Golf Course, 6771 Taft Rd, Bruce Twp, with a Noon shot-gun start. Cost is $70 for 9 holes of golf, lunch, dinner, & more. For restoration form and more info see flyer.
"Friday , June 24, 2016" The American Legion Riders are hosting their 2nd annual Legacy Scholarship ride leaving the Garden City Post 386 to head to the state convention at the Kewadin Casino on the 25th. "Saturday, June 25, 2016" Operation Come H.O.M.E. is hosting their 1st annual Vets, Corvettes, & Other Classics Car Show from 10AM till 3PM at the Woodside Bible Church, Troy. Cost to show your car is $20, but veterans are free. To register & more info see flyer.

"Saturday, June 25, 2016 (NEW)" VFW Post 334 is sponsoring an Open Memorial Event at the Orion Veterans Memorial, located on Lapeer Rd (M-24) at Odanah St., starting at 9AM till 6PM. There will be free donuts, coffee, etc. See flyer for more info.

"Monday , June 27, 2016 (SAVE THE DATE)" Vets Returning Home is proud to have been selected as the charity of choice for the Tiger Alumni Association. They will be holding their annual golf outing soon with Vets Returning Home as the recipient of the proceeds. We want to ensure our entire community is aware so that interested golfers can get in before all the slots are taken. On behalf of the Detroit Tigers Alumni Association, we are so pleased to announce the 2016 Tiger Alumni Golf Outing will be held at WABEEK COUNTRY CLUB. Participants in the outing will enjoy a continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch on the turn followed by dinner. Master of Ceremonies ELI ZARET will handle awards & discussions and then JON WARDEN with a Roast of Tiger Alumni. Get ready for a great time. Even if you are not a golfer, you can still enjoy the fun and festivities at the after outing dinner, where we will all be enjoy the company of some of our favorite Tigers while helping out our veterans in crisis.
