"Free Legal Services" The Legal Aid & Defender Association, Inc., is hosting numerous (17 to be exact) free legal clinics (priority for vets) in both Oakland & Macomb counties for the next 6 months, all starting at 10AM. "VA Golden Age Games coming to Detroit (Updated website)" The VA Golden Age Games are coming to Detroit in July 2016 & volunteers are needed. This will be open to all veterans that are enrolled in the VA Health System. To get a sneak peek see early flyer or visit their new website to volunteer or participate!

"Saturday, April 30, 2016" Dearborn American Legion Post 364, 3001 S Telegraph, Dearborn, is hosting their annual Brian Smith Memorial Live Vet Auction. Bit on your favorite vet! Event will be from 6 to 11PM. For complete funny details see attached flyer.

"Saturday, April 30, 2016" Victory Gym, 23936 Telegraph Rd, Brownstown, is hosting a fund-raiser to support vets & first responders. Boot camp, marital arts demo, live music, etc. Starts at Noon and runs till 9PM. Cost is $10 per person. For more info see flyer.

"Tuesday, May 3, 2016 " The Federal Bar Association is hosting its 4th annual seminar of Veteran Treatment Courts. It will be held in room L44, Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, 2630 Featherstone Rd, Auburn Hills, from 1 till 4PM. For a complete listing of speakers & topics see attached flyer. This is a free event.

"Wednesday, May 4, 2016 (NEW)" The Yankee Air Museum is hosting another in their free lecture series at the museum, Willow Run Airport, starting at 7PM in the General Purpose Room. Today's speaker is USMC Sgt Mjor Eugene Ownes who will discuss the Montford Point Marines. Again, admission is free.

"Friday, May 6, 2016" The 57th International Armed Forces Night will be held at the Fogolar Rurlan Club, 1800 E. C. Row Expressway, Windsor, from 6:30PM. Guest speaker will be Major General Dean Miller, OMM, MSC, CD, with the subject of Canadian Impact in Afghanistan. For info and to register to attend visit their website. "Saturday, May 7, 2016" Michigan State University Baseball Team is hosting a Military Appreciation Day at their game starting at 1PM at McLane Stadium, in East Lansing. Ticket requests should go to this email. For more info see flyer.

"Saturday, May 7, 2016 (NEW)" The Sons of the American Legion, Dearborn Chapter 364, is hosting a Kentucky Derby Dinner starting at 4:30PM, located at 3001 S Telegraph, Dearborn. Dinner is $10 and you get to watch the race. For more info see flyer.

"Saturday, May 7, 2016" Madison Hgts VFW Post 1407, 630 E 11 Mile, Madison Hgts, is having a Mexican Fiesta night from 4 till 7PM. Tacos, Fajitas, Enchiladas, Salsas, Nachos & more. Cost is $8 per person. For more info see their flyer.

"Tuesday, May 10, 2016 (NEW)" The Desert Angles are hosting a Packing Party for the troops at the Wixom Senior Center, 49045 Pontiac Trail, Wixom, from 1 till 3PM. For more info contact Jean via email.

(LANSING) - The Michigan American Legion now has an accredited Veteran service officer available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. The American Legion Veteran service officer services all veterans and their families with filing claims to the Veterans Administration on the veteran's behalf or to check the status of a claim already filed. Veterans and current service members in the Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties now have more opportunities to file their claim or ask questions. Centrally located in the tri-county area at 212 N.
