HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
"Freedom Center @ North Terminal Opening!" The Metro Airport North Freedom Center is opening December 17th, at gate D-17, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11AM. The hours of operation, however, will be limited because of a lack of volunteers! We need you! You get free parking at the airport (handy when you go on vacation) and a chance to serve the troops as they pass thru. To volunteer visit the Freedom Center website and go to volunteer.
"Free Legal Services" The Legal Aid & Defender Association, Inc., is hosting numerous (17 to be exact) free legal clinics (prority for vets) in both Oakland & Macomb counties for the next 6 months, all starting at 10AM. "VA Golden Age Games coming to Detroit" The VA Golden Age Games are coming to Detroit in July 2016. This will be open to all veterans that are enrolled in the VA Health System. To get a sneak peek see early flyer or visit their new website!
EVENTS!
"Thursday, December 10, 2015" The Desert Angels are hosting a packing party to collect items to ship to our troops overseas. A listing of items they are looking for is on the flyer. The party today will be held at: Oakland County Sportsman Club, Waterford Rd, Clarkston, from 4 till 6PM
"Friday, December 11, 2015" Starting today and running thru February 24th the Ann Arbor District Library, 343 S 5th St, Ann Arbor, is running an exhibit on The Meditation on War. The grand opening of this exhibition today will be at 6:30PM till 8:30PM. For more info see flyer or visit their official website covering this event.
"Saturday, December 12, 2015 (UPDATE)" This is National Wreaths Across America Day and Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp, Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, will be taking part in placing wreaths at all burial sites, starting at 10AM. "Thursday, December 17, 2015 (NEW)" Stagecrafters at the Baldwin Theater, 415 S Lafayette, Royal Oak, is having a "Buy 1 ticket, get 1 Free" to see Mary Poppins, with doors opening at 7PM, for all veterans. "Saturday, December 19, 2015 (NEW)" The University of Detroit-Mercy Titans Basketball team is offering a free ticket to vets, plus 1 free guest ticket, at their game against Central Florida. This is Military Appreciation Day! All other tickets are 1/2 off. Game is at Callahan Hall, 4001 W McNichols (at Livernois) starting at 1PM. "Saturday, December 19, 2015 (NEW)" Vets Returning Home, a shelter for veterans, is having a $10K challenge to raise funds at PB's Sports Grille, 24301 Harper, St Clair Shores, from 3 till 7PM. A $5 donation is suggested at the door, but optional. There are matching funds that they can earn. For more info see flyer.

  1. December 12th, Saturday 10:30 a.m. – "WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA" at Resurrection Cemetery.  Meet 10:30 a.m. at Fern Hill Country Club located at 17600 Clinton Road in Clinton Township.  Lay Wreaths at 12 Noon at Resurrection Cemetery.   
  1. December 14th, Monday 6:15 p.m. – Bruce Post 1146 St. Clair Shores – "MONDAY BINGO".  Doors Open at 5:00 p.m.  Bingo starts at 6:15 p.m.  OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!  Sponsored by Dad Club #193.  BRUCE POST 1146 is located at 28404 Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores.  Just North of 11 Mile Road.

(LANSING) - The Michigan American Legion now has an accredited Veteran service officer available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. The American Legion Veteran service officer services all veterans and their families with filing claims to the Veterans Administration on the veteran's behalf or to check the status of a claim already filed. Veterans and current service members in the Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties now have more opportunities to file their claim or ask questions. Centrally located in the tri-county area at 212 N.
