ANNOUNCEMENTS!
"Freedom Center @ North Terminal Opening!" The Metro Airport North Freedom Center is opening December 17th, at gate D-17, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11AM. The hours of operation, however, will be limited because of a lack of volunteers! We need you! You get free parking at the airport (handy when you go on vacation) and a chance to serve the troops as they pass thru. To volunteer visit the Freedom Center website and go to volunteer.
"Accommodating Wounded Warriors" Mentioned this a year ago but with the Holidays coming worth mentioning again. If you need special assistance when flying (wheelchair, early bording, etc) the TSA will meet you at the door of the airport, get you thru security, and then to your gate. Your plane will also than be met by the TSA to help you get to baggage claim, etc. You must notify the TSA of your travel schedule at least 24 hours in advance at 888-262-2396 or via email at msusoc@dhs.gov.
"VA Golden Age Games coming to Detroit" The VA Golden Age Games are coming to Detroit in July 2016. This will be open to all veterans that are enrolled in the VA Health System. To get a sneak peek see early flyer.

"Thursday, November 19, 2015" University of Detroit - Mercy Law School is hosting a Criminal Expungement Law Clinic from 9AM till 11AM at SS Peter & Paul Church Sanctuary, 438 St Antoine, Detroit. "Friday, November 20, 2015" The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund is hosting an auction to support Michigan's veterans at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant's Family Crest Room, 713 S Main, Frankenmuth, from 5:30 5ill 9:30PM. "Saturday, November 21, 2015" The Michigan Veteran Warriors Hockey Team will play the Red Wings Alumni at 5:15PM at the Royal Oak Ice Arena. Tickets start at $20 for a general adult admission, $5 for children. There are also a number of VIP packages available. All proceeds go to help veterans in need. "Saturday, November 21, 2015 " The Metro Airport Freedom Center Support Group in conjunction with US Marine Corps League & the Berkley VFW Post 922 are hosting a spaghetti dinner at the post, in Berkley, from 6 till 9PM. A donation of $6 and a new unwrapped toy is requested (no cloth or stuffed animals). For more info call 248-541-9222 or see flyer.
"Saturday, November 21, 2015" Join the Association of the US Army, Arsenal of Democracy Chapter & the Women in Defense - Michigan, to celebrate MI veterans and to raise funds to benefit Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs. They work to pair medical service dogs to veterans here in Michigan. This event will be held at DC3S Center, 7205 Sterling Pond Ct, Sterling Hgts, from 6 to 9PM. "Sunday, November 22, 2015" The Michigan Military Technical & Historical Society is presenting another in their series on WWII, this time a Journey to Justice, a documentary film about a German Jew who fled Nazi Germany & his life as an American soldier, from 2PM at 16600 Stephens, Eastpointe. "Tuesday, November 24, 2015" The Wounded Warriors & the Doubletree Hilton, Dearborn, is hosting a free brunch for all veterans from 11AM till 2PM. For more info call Mimi at 313-982-3983 or see flyer.
"Saturday, November 28, 2015 (NEW)" Dearborn Am Legion Post 364 ia hostin an Ohio St vs Michigan Football & Fried Bologna Sandwich day, with a noon kick off. All sandwiches are $1, Post is located at 3001 S Telgraph Rd, Dearborn. For more info call 313-562-9090 or seeflyer.
"Tuesday, December 1, 2015 (NEW)" The Desert Angels are hosting a packing party to collect items to ship to our troops overseas. A listing of items they are looking for is on the flyer. The party today will be held at: Oakland Community College, 2900 Featherstone Rd, Auburn Hills, from Noon till 4PM.
"Wednesday, December 2, 2015 (NEW)" The Yankee Air Museum is hosting another in their series on the history of WWII and all of America's wars. The guess speaker today is Niel Hanson who flew for Air America in Vietnam. Doors open at 7PM for this free event, in the General Purpose room, Willow Run Airport..

"Thursday, December 3, 2015" Brides Across America is hosting for female veterans a wedding dress contest. For complete information on this event, how to enter, etc., call Mya at 248-232-4365 or see attached flyer.
