ANNOUNCEMENTS!

"Metro Airport Freedom Center Needs Volunteers" Freedom Center military lounge at Detroit Metro Airport is looking for 50 - 75 new volunteers. The new volunteers will primarily staff the Freedom Center facility that will be opening at the North Terminal before the end of the year, however we also still need a few volunteers to work at the flagship Freedom Center at the McNamara Terminal. Volunteer duties include (but are not limited to), greeting guests, general light cleaning, stocking of snacks and beverages, logging donations, and assisting guests with questions and needs. "Friday, September 11, 2015" WestWynd Golf Course is hosting a Patriot's Day Golf Outing, with all the proceeds going to the Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund. Shotgun start at Noon. The course is located at 4168 N Adams Rd Rochester, MI (248) 608-7820 . Cost is $150 per player and includes gold, lunch, dinner, contests, etc. For more info see flyer.

"Saturday, September 12, 2015" Chief Pontiac Legion Post 377 is hosting a Blues Brews BBQ at their post, located at 4819 Mary Sue Ave, Clarkston, from 2:30 till 10PM. Several Blue's bands, arts, crafts, BBQ, etc. Cost is $5 per person & a $5 parking fee. For more info see flyer.

"Saturday, September 12, 2015 (NEW)" The Detroit Veterans Day Parade committee is hosting a Parade Milestone Picnic at 2951 Woodward, Detroit, from 12 to 6PM. Have some food, talk about the parade in November, visit with fellow veterans.

"Sunday, September 13, 2015" Louis & Tom Mezza are hosting their 6th annual bowling party to benefit VVA 154's food pantry. This will be held at Lakeshore Lanes, 31025 Jefferson, St Clair Shores, with doors opening at 10:30AM. $20 per bowler which includes 2 games, shoes, prizes, lunch, etc. For more info call 586-558-2925 or see flyer.

"Sunday, September 13, 2015" Pets for Vets, group that adopts shelter animals & trains them to be great companion animals for Michigan Vets, is hosting a charity golf tournament at Twin Lakes Golf Course, 455 Twin Lakes Dr, Oakland Charter Twp, form Noon till 9PM, which includes the dinner. $110 per person which includes cart, cash bar, 18 holes, etc. For more info contact them at their website, at 248-650-4550, or see flyer.

"Friday & Saturday, September 18 & 19, 2015" VVA 154 is looking for assistance to help stand a 24 hour vigil at Resurrection Cemetery to honor those that never returned from Vietnam. The vigil starts at 6PM on Friday and ends at 2 PM on Saturday. For more info call 586-226-3416 or see flyer.

"Friday, September 18, 2015 (NEW)" The Prisoner of War Committee of Michigan is holding its annual POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, 12 Mile & Novi Roads, starting at 6:30PM. Guest speaker is US Representative David Trott. All are welcome. For more info see flyer.

"Saturday, September 19, 2015 (NEW)" The Great Lakes National Cemetery is holding their annual POW/MIA tribute at the cemetery, starting at 1PM, with a special tribute to POW Dallas Mossman from the Korean War. "Saturday, September 19, 2015" The Tri-County Veterans Network & Detroit Tough present a Veterans' Day at Detroit Tough Gym, 1244 Beech St, Detroit, from 11AM till 7PM. "Saturday, September 19, 2015 (NEW)" Operation Yellow Ribbon, in partnership with DAV #129 in Shelby Township, on Dequindre, just north of Auburn Road, is hosting their fourth annual All American Picnic to honor our active duty and veteran military family members and their families. Tickets are purchased by local businesses, and are given free to our military families. The day will include a picnic lunch, games and prizes for the kids, door prizes, speakers and demonstrations, a balloon man and face painter. "Sunday, September 20, 2015" The IAVA (Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America) is hosting a free concert for all veterans at Freedom Hill, 14900 Metro Pky, Sterling Hgts, starting at 7PM. "Sunday, September 20, 2015" The Warriors Trust Fund, in partnership with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, is hosting a Benefit for the Disable Golf Outing at the Glen Oaks Golf Club, 30500 13 Mile, Farmington Hill. "Tuesday, September 22, 2015 (NEW)" Sacks for Soldiers is collecting items to ship to our troops serving overseas at MIAT College of Technology, 2955 S Haggerty Rd, Canton, from 1:30 till 4:30PM. See attached flyer for items needed or how you can help pack, etc.
