ANNOUNCEMENTS!

"Wreaths Across America, Part 2" The wreath program in December was a huge sucess with over 11,000 wreaths placed by over 2500 volunteers. But now those wreaths need to be taken down and the Holly National Cemetery needs your help. Starting at 10AM on aturday, January 24th, volunteers are needed to help remove all these wreaths. Come out and lend a hand if possible.

"Volunteers needed at the VA Dingell Hospital" The Detroit VA Healthcare System is hosting the 2015 OEF-OIF Welcome Home Event on Saturday, February 7 from 8a – 1pm. As part of our mission to help returning service men and women as they transition, we are providing a Hiring Fair at the medical center. We have partnered with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, State of Michigan Veterans Affairs and Wayne County Veterans Services to sponsor the event. We are expecting over 75 employers will be on hand, including the Big Three. We asking for your help. Volunteers are needed for the event for greeters, navigators, concessions, registration among others. Two shifts available – 7A – 11a and 11a - 2pm. "Thursday, January 15, 2015" The University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law is offering a free legal clinic at SS Peter & Paul Church, 438 St Antoine, Detroit, from 9 to 11AM. Today's help will focus on Tenant Rights. To register call Alesa at the Law School at 313-596-0258. See flyer for other upcoming clinics.

"Saturday, January 17, 2015" The American Legion Rider's Post 32 is hosting their 9th annual Polar Bear Steak Fry from 5 to 8PM at their post, located at 9318 Newburgh Rd, Livonia. "Friday, January 23, 2015" Autumn Woods Health Care Facility is hosting a fund raiser for Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154 at Sterling Lanes, 33200 Schoenherr Rd, Sterling Hgts, from 6 to 8PM. "Tuesday, January 27, 2015" Richmond VFW Post 6802 is hosting a Welcome Home & Thanks event at their post, 34339 Division, Richmond, from 6 to 7:30PM. A movie will be shown on the Paris Peace Accords in 1973. For more info call the post at 586-727-1436 of see flyer.

"Thursday, January 29, 2015" The Madison Hgts VFW, Post 9507, is hosting a Veterans Town Hall from 7 to 9PM at their post, 630 E 11Mile, Madison Hgts. The MI Department of Military & Veterans Affairs will be on hand to answer your questions. For more info call Sean at 248-850-8350 or see flyer.

"Friday, January 30, 2015 (UPDATE)" The U of M - Ann Arbor Student Veteran Association (SVA) is holding it's 6th annual Benefit Dinner the Washtenaw County Veterans Treatment Court. The keynote speaker will be Rep John Dingell. For more info see attached flyer. The event will be held at the University of Michigan Union Ballroom, 530 S State St, Ann Arbor. "Friday, January 30, 2015 (NEW)" The Ann Arbor VA Hospital, and the Plymouth Whalers, are inviting all veterans to attend a pregame celebration and free tickets to their game (first 250 requesting) starting at 5PM at the Compuware Arena, 14900 N Beck Rd, Plymouth.
