"Saturday, November 8, 2014 (SAVE THE DATE)" The annual Detroit Veterans Day Parade will march down Woodward! To join the parade, sponsor, or just more information, see their website or the new flyer.

EVENTS!

"Thursday, October 2, 2014" The University of Michigan Hospital, Buddy-2-Buddy program, is hosting a 10 week program titled Strong Military Familes. This program is designed to help meet the challenges of parenting during and after deployment. $90 offered for completion of the course & evaluation. There are 2 programs, one in Warren & one in Jackson. For more information call 734-998-0089, or email them at strongfamilies@umich.edu.

"Saturday, October 4, 2014" K-9 Quinn's Burial, Fowlerville Police Department K-9. Quinn will be interred at the Michigan War Dog Memorial on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00am. The cemetery is located at the corner of 11 Mile & Milford Rd, S Lyon.

"Saturday, October 4, 2014" St Clair Shores VFW Post 1146 is hosting a Night of Entertainment featuring the Blues Brothers, Roy Orbison, & Kelsey Rose. The doors open at 6:30PM, and the post is located at 28404 Jefferson, St Clair Shores. Tickets are $20 or two for $35. See flyer for complete info.

"Wednesday & Thursday, October 8 & 9, 2014" The Southeastern Michigan Veterans Stand Down will take place at the Detroit Rescue Mission, 3606 E Forest, Detroit. Volunteers are needed as are numerous items, and a complete list is available on their website. At this event on the 8th a Homeless Court will take place to assist those Detroit (only) veterans with legal issues in the 36th District Court. You must register for this assistance by calling 313-596-0258. See flyer for complete information.

"Friday, October 10, 2014" Neighborhood Legal Services, along with the Detroit VA Hospital, are offering free legal assistance on issues like child support, expungements, tickets, etc. This will take place at the Detroit VA Hospital, 4646 Jorn R, Detroit, from 9AM till Noon. Limited to 15 veterans so call to reserve your spot at 313-576-1000, ext 65537. See flyer for more information.

"Saturday, October 11, 2014" The Navy Spirit League of Michigan is hosting the 239th Navy Birthday Ball at the Best Western Plus, 34911 Van Dyke, Sterling Hgts, starting at 6PM. For complete information see their website. To order tickets go here.

"Saturday, October 11, 2014" Port Huron VFW Post 796 is hosting a benefit Euchre tournament to help Marine Joe LaRue with his medical bills, from 6 till 9PM. Entry Fee is $20. The post is located at 1711 Pine Grove Ave, Port Huron, MI 48060. See flyer for more info.

"Sunday, October 12, 2014 (NEW)" Stiggy's Dogs is hosting their annual Pack Palooza at the Lyon Oaks County Park, 52251 W Pontiac Trail, Wixom, from 1 to 4PM. Your dog is not only welcome but is the leader of the pack! Stiggy's Dogs helps take rescue dogs and train them as companions for our veterans. "Thursday, October 16, 2014 (NEW)" The University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law is offering a free legal clinic at SS Peter & Paul Church, 438 St Antoine, Detroit, from 9 to 11AM. (LANSING) - The Michigan American Legion now has an accredited Veteran service officer available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. The American Legion Veteran service officer services all veterans and their families with filing claims to the Veterans Administration on the veteran's behalf or to check the status of a claim already filed.
