Proposed Amendment to the Department of Michigan By-Laws #MiLegion

At the 2014 American Legion Department of Michigan Summer Convention the following By-Law Change is being proposed.

AMENDMENT 2014

Explanation of intended change:

Amendment 1 – Reasons for change:  In many past years, the Department has not had any or very few Posts participate in the various rituals and Color Guard competitions.  The Department parades have consisted of forming up and marching around a hotel parking lot and the parade has low participation.  Due to such low participation and financial concerns, the following is submitted:

A proposed change to the State Constitution and By-Laws, Page 3-4, Article IV, Section 1, subsection f, which now reads:

                        Subcommittee: V.A.V.S./V.H.V.S.
                       
            To be amended by:
eliminating the Contest Supervisory subcommittee of the Internal Affairs Committee

            so that when amended, Article IV, Section 1, subsection f, shall read:
