Somerville to sponsor town hall for veterans

State Rep. Pat Somerville will sponsor a town hall next week to discuss issues affecting

military veterans and their families.

The town hall takes place Monday, July 9, from 10 am until noon at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7310, located at 8840 Macomb St. in Gosse Ile. Joining Somerville at the town hall will be Jason Allen, Senior Deputy Director for Veterans Affairs at the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

"We owe our veterans and their families so much for the sacrifices they've made in defense of our nation and our way of life," said Somerville, R-New Boston. "As an elected official, it's my job to serve those who have served us with such distinction, and it's an honor to get a chance to hear from them and help them." Somerville and Allen will discuss legislation and other issues affecting veterans and those currently serving. All veterans, servicmemembers and their families are invited to attend.
