#Veteran Events & Announcements 10/19 to 11/5

Listed below are only the events I have for the next 14+ days here in the Metro Detroit area, of which there are 7 new items. You can also go to the Legion 328 website to download any flyer for these and future events (thru November) at  http://www.legionpost328.org/events.html

If your group has an event benefiting veterans, or you hear of an event, please share with me so I can share with the veteran community.  I would rather get an event 3 times than not at all!  Please make sure any flyer lists address of event and a contact person!

You can also find many other veteran events & information for Veterans on the State of MI Veterans website, Detroit Public Televisions' Veterans website, and a few others:

"Sunday, November 5, 2017 " Make sure you have Sunday, November 5, 2017 penciled in to attend, and participate in, the 12th annual Metropolitan Detroit Veterans Day parade. We have the latest 2017 Medal of Honor recipient, from Michigan; Army Vietnam Veteran Jim McLoughan coming as a ''Veteran of Honor''. We also have an invitation to LTC Charles Kettles, Medal of Honor recipient from 2016, also from Michigan, to attend. He was not able to attend last year, due to medical problems. We also have an invitation to a 3rd Medal of Honor recipient, USMC, Korean Veteran, Robert Siminek, also from Michigan, to attend. I'm hopeful all three can be there. When was the last time anyone ever saw three (3) MoH recipients at the same time ????? I have a 2-25 person Honor Guard coming from Jonesville MI, a south central MI town, population 3,000. They have to be seen to be appreciated. We will also be doing the 4 mile run, and VetsFest, again. The run, our first, was a big success, and expect to at least double the number of runners this year. Last year, we had more Veteran Service Organization Officers than ever before. We will top that this year. We had almost 800 motorcycles leading off the parade last year. We may have a ''surprise ''Ride Captain'' this year. I will be contacting the US Coast Guard Station regarding their participation, as well as other active duty Military units..... So, spread the word, be ready to come. Our website, at www.detroitveteransdayparade.org is being updated constantly. Register on-line. Feel free to contact Willy, e-mail, or phone at (248) 569-0824 if you have any questions.
