Listed below are the events I have for the next 14 days here in the Metro Detroit area, of which there are 23 new items. That will teach me not to go on vacation anymore! If your group has an event benefiting veterans, or you hear of an event, please share with me so I can share with the veteran community.  I would rather get an event 3 times than not at all!

"Help support Buddy-2-Buddy (IMPORTANT)" The Buddy-to-Buddy Volunteer Veteran Program needs your help to keep this critical program in place in order to continue to support thousands of Michigan veterans and service members. Visit www.friends.umich.edu/buddy-to-buddy and help support Buddy-to-Buddy in its goal to generate the funding that enables the program and its volunteers to help Michigan's service members and veterans.
"Peace of Mind for us older vets!" As we all get older we need to start thinking about our medical records, a living will, a regular will, funeral expenses, etc. The State Bar of Michigan has put together a terrific booklet covering these topics with forms you can fill out at home to cover a simple will, living will, etc. Take a look to see if you should do any of this!

"Wednesday, September 7, 2016" Lawrence Technical University, and the IAVA, are hosting a Veterans Workshop to assist vets in finding employment with the US Army or the State of Michigan. "Thursday, September 8, 2016 (NEW)" The Desert Angles are hosting a Packing Party for the troops at the Oakland County Sportsman Club 4770 Waterford Road Clarkston, Mi., from 4 till 6PM. For the troops they are looking for: wipes - personal care - foot powder - socks - cans of pasta, tuna, chicken, fruit, refried beans, etc. - single serving meals - jerky - nuts - dried fruit - "pocket foods (anything that will fit into a packet to take out on missions) powdered drink mix - coffee - tea - energy bars - protien bars - sunflower seeds - ready to eat meals - Raymon noodles - crackers - granola bars - breakfast bars - Things to make them smile - a letter from YOU - nerf balls. And for K-9's they are looking for: waterless shampoo large Kong's (which are toys) paw & nose salve K-9 ear cleaner K-9 eye drops large rope chews collapsible food and water bowls . "Friday, September 9, 2016" The Fallen & Wounded Soldier Fund is hosting a golf outing at the Moose Ridge Golf Course, 11801 Doane Rd, South Lyon, with an 8AM registration & a 9AM tee off. Cost is $150 per person. For more info & to register see flyer.
"Saturday, September 10, 2016 (Update)" American House Senior Living is hosting, in partnership with United Shore Professional Baseball League, the Louisville Slugger Warriors at an all star game at Jimmy John's Field, Auburn Road & M59 in Utica, at 1PM. . $5 for all others, to kick off Patriot Week. "Saturday, September 10, 2016 (NEW)" Madison Hgts VFW Auxiliary is hosting an all you can Corn Roast (with burgers & hot dogs), with sides, for $8, from 4 till 8PM. Located at 630 E 11 Mile, Madison Hgts.
"Sunday, September 11, 2016" The Warriors Trust Fund is hosting its 2nd annual Golf Benefit to help all veterans. It will take place at Glen Oaks Golf Course, 30500 W 13 Mile, Farmington Hills, with a 11:30AM lunch & registration & an 1PM shotgun start, 6PM dinner. "Sunday, September 11, 2016" White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery is hosting a Patriots Race to support the MI Wounded Returning Warriors Project. (Not part of the WWP). This will be both a 5K (starting at 9AM) and 1 Mile (start time of 9:30 AM) event with lots of prizes. Located at 621 W Long Lake Rd, Troy. See flyer for more info.
"Sunday, September 11, 2016" The Howell Eagles are hosting a breakfast (9AM till 1PM), & Chicken Dinner (4PM till 7PM), and horseshoes (1PM till 4PM) to raise funds for the Fallen & Wounded Soldier Fund. Free for vets! Will take place at 141 Schroeder Park Dr, Howell. For more info see flyer.
"Thursday, September 15, 2016 (NEW)" Vets Returning Home is hosting a Country Concert to benefit their shelter at Royalty House, Warren, from 6:30PM till late! Tickets are $15 with main attraction Joey Vee. For more info and tickets visit there website or see flyer.
"Thursday, September 15, 2016" Woodside Bible Church in Troy is hosting a Veterans Benefit Concert. This is a fund-raiser to help us build the 75+ unit apartments in Pontiac for homeless or imminently homeless Veterans. We do have a small number of free tickets for Vets that we will be handing out personally. Everyone else can purchase them. Go to www.iTickets.com look for Matthew West for September 15th and click on the event, then on "Place Order" You'll be asked for special code so type in comehome and you will see this page (ticket prices start are $20 General Admission – Balcony only), $25 Main Floor Reserved, $75 Gold Circle, $125 VIP (includes post-concert Dessert Reception), until August 9th at midnight. After that, anyone can buy them. All tickets can be upgraded for the Dessert Reception by adding $35 to any individual ticket (except VIP). Donations are welcomed to offset costs for the free Veterans tickets.
"Friday, September 16, 2016" The SMGA is hosting their 4th annual Wounded Warrior Golf Tournament to benefit the Fallen & Wounded Soldier Fund. Will take place at the Firestone Golf Club, 1984 Taylor, Auburn Hills, with an 11:30AM check in & 1:30PM shotgun start. Visit their website to register or see flyer for more info.
"Friday, September 16, 2016 (NEW)" The National POW/MIA Recognition Day event hosted by the POW Committee of Michigan is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the "Michigan Remembers" POW/MIA Memorial, Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, 43300 West 12 Mile Rd.
