"Help support Buddy-2-Buddy (IMPORTANT)" The Buddy-to-Buddy Volunteer Veteran Program needs your help to keep this critical program in place in order to continue to support thousands of Michigan veterans and service members. Visit www.friends.umich.edu/buddy-to-buddy and help support Buddy-to-Buddy in its goal to generate the funding that enables the program and its volunteers to help Michigan's service members and veterans. PLUS here is the lastest B2B Job Fair listing for August. Again, they just compile the list.

"Peace of Mind for us older vets!" As we all get older we need to start thinking about our medical records, a living will, a regular will, funeral expenses, etc. The State Bar of Michigan has put together a terrific booklet covering these topics with forms you can fill out at home to cover a simple will, living will, etc. Take a look to see if you should do any of this!

"Friday, August 5, 2016" Advanced Cable is hosting their 2nd annual Bark-E-Que to raise money to support Stiggy's Dogs (Anew hope for every vet, a second chance for every dog) at Barrister Gardens, 24225 Harper, St Clair Shores, from 5 till 10 PM. "Saturday, August 6, 2016" The Fallen & Wounded Soldier Fund is hosting a Party with a Purpose to help support the troops. It will take place at Stee & Kathy's, 6264 Kingon Fr, Brighton, starting at 5PM. Entertainment by the Fallen Heroes. Cost is $30. For reservations call 248-860-4642 and see flyer.

"Sunday, August 7, 2016" Everyone is invited to the 69th Annual Victory in Japan Day Service to honor the Gold Star Mothers. This will take place at the White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, 621 W Long Lake Rd, Troy, starting at 11AM. Lunch afterwards at Old Settles Post 4659. For more info see flyer.

"Saturday, August 13, 2016 (NEW)" RUCK for the Fallen, Project Brotherhood resolve is a non profit, non government program to help homeless vets, is hosting a 22 Mile walk starting at am, till 7PM, at the Lapeer VFW Post 4139, 128 Daley Rd, Lapeer. "Sunday, August 14, 2016" On the 71st anniversary of VJ-Day, The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial will host a massive re-enactment of the kiss near the sculpture in Memorial Park, Woodward Avenue, just north of 13 Mile road in Royal Oak, Michigan at 1PM. Kissers and cheering onlookers are welcome. 25' Sailor and Nurse Seen Kissing in Memorial Park: Through December The Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial (michiganww2memorial.org) is pleased to present "Embracing Peace," a 25' painted bronze sculpture of the famous kiss in Times Square at the end of WWII in Memorial Park, Royal Oak, Woodward Avenue, north of 13 Mile Road. "Thursday, August 18, 2016" The Southfield Veterans Commission, American Society of Employers, & the VA, are hosting a Vet Job Fair in the Southfield Pavilion, 26000 Evergreen, Southfield, from 9AM till 1PM. For more info & to register goto www.smilg.org or see flyer.

(LANSING) - The Michigan American Legion now has an accredited Veteran service officer available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week. The American Legion Veteran service officer services all veterans and their families with filing claims to the Veterans Administration on the veteran's behalf or to check the status of a claim already filed. Veterans and current service members in the Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties now have more opportunities to file their claim or ask questions. Centrally located in the tri-county area at 212 N.
